List of most necessary programs

What do you mean? All these apps are readily available on almost all the torrent sites. On these lists people upload, I personally find useful maybe 20% or less of what's on there. I never said the other stuff is garbage or won't work, it's that I personally have no use for it.

I think that e-mail clients isn't so necessary. Most of users, at least in Russia, used web mail interfaces.

for PDF Reader I recommend PDF-Xchange Viewer (Freeware)

It's very faster than Adobe (If open big files you will see)
I never install Adobe after know this program.
It can type something in pdf, bookmark, rotate, etc.. Test it.

Are you able to [for example] fill out a form by typing in text? I'm using Sumatra and it's the best PDF reader I've seen - the problem is you can't type something in and save it.

Yes, PDF-Xchange Viewer have type tool.
It's like a text layer over the pdf, some problem with font size that maybe some step to close to the form. But very faster and easier than OCR.
Unsure about save to view with other PC (didn't try yet), but can print.

I can understand all the other freeware programs you posted, but why are MKVToolNix and CCCP so important if all you're doing is playing movies? So far with Media Player Classic alone I've yet to see a movie file that won't play -- and without installing any codec packs.

Yes but its really a whale. Most of the software bundled can be found in switchless installer or can be done and some are useless.
for example:
· NET Framework 1.1 SP1 / .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 + updates
