@scarface has amazing QA failure and those plastic builds especially screen hinges breaks after 2 yrs of light usage.
I would suggest Legion LOQ https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/p/laptops/loq-laptops/lenovo-loq-15ahp9/len101q0008#tech_specs
4060 isn't that powerful and will hit TDP limit and runs out of VRAM with 8GB. Anything AI chatbot like ChatRTX needs 10-32GB VRAM for efficient operation for longer duration.

Thinkpad T/P/X series are an alternative for better build quality. Lenovo actually adds aluminium frame + metal hinges for intel version and AMD gets plastic builds with metal hinges.Skip non-upgradeable laptop and always opt for upgrade-able ones.

Since you're in EU you can try Novacustom that ships with coreboot firmware with intel machine with everything upgradeable from HDD,RAM,WIFI,Screen etc and offers longer warranty as well which needs to be paid.

If you want another coreboot system ie. Made in America System76 is the one which is based on clevo design with open firmware.

Both Novacustom and System76 are optimized for Linux and have drivers for windows 10 and 11.

I recently got P14s Gen 5 AMD thinkpad which has non-soldered WiFi from Qualcomm and had abysmal performance out of the box and had to search for drivers from station-drivers to get better wifi speed until few days lenovo released a slightly higher version of driver with security fixes and now BT/WiFi works better but still miles behind AX210 in terms of out of the box performance and battery life. In India most of the models comes with soldered DRAM,SSD and Wifi/BT.

@humbert Try applying this MSU update file and see if it upgrades from 22H2 to 23H2.
If it fails you need to do in-place install via Stock MS ISO. Double check if you have proper disk partition size named as Recovery. 23H2 and 24H2 needs 700MB. If its 500MB or lower the upgrade will fail or rolled back. This is the article You can use 3rd party partition tools such as minitool or easeUS to resize C: and add enough space to recovery partition

Thank for your feedback. In fact I had not noticed there was no SD card reader. And I use one, so I'm going to wait and choose another one.

Any time you buy a laptop (or anything else, for that matter) you buy it according to what you're going to use it. It is also critical to keep in mind that technology advances at light speed. After 3 years your laptop will probably still to what you want it to do, but it's essentially obsolete despite that. Check the specs carefully and go as high as you can afford. Certainly you have Amazon in France. Have you checked what they have? Do you have Newegg? They also have tech stuff at reasonable prices and run specials every now and then.

Vasudev: I just tried the file you suggested. It says "Not applicable to your computer" and promptly shuts down. I already tried using Stock ISO's downloaded directly from M$. They failed too.

Harkaz: I was not aware there was some sort of issue with MSI laptops. I have an MSI laptop I bought some 1½ to 2 years ago to replace the one I bought in 2014. So far I have no complaints.

@humbert There have been some occasional reports about quality issues, especially with screen hinges (for instance https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-about-MSI-laptop-quality-Will-it-last-for-more-years). It has been mentioned by Vasudev above.

I took a look at the link and all I'm seeing is praise. Based on my experience I'd have to agree. If there is some mention of hinges somewhere, I didn't see it. Maybe it had this problem a few years back and they got around to fixing it.

There are some negative reviews if you scroll down: "If you are looking for a good laptop with build quality i suggest you should NOT go for MSI.

My GL63 8RC was something i purchased after thinking a lot. The hinges broke in the first year itself. The body panel started to break. The screen is cracking when you open it. At one point i thought the screen woud just come out of the hinges.

Terrible build quality. Apart from that performance is good and heating is slightly concerning as it is a laptop and not a lap grill.

Please look for other options as i had a bad experience i don't want this for anyone else. There are alternatives like asus ROG, Omen and dell."

I am also biased against MSI due to the negative opinion of a friend of mine. I don't use MSI. Never used it before.

If you were in the market for a laptop, what would you buy?

ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 seems a great choice.
Review: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-P16-G2-Laptop-Review-Improved-with-165-Hz-screen-Nvidia-RTX-2000-Ada.787612.0.html
Durable build, upgradeability (RAM up to 192 GB, GPU selection up to Ada 5000 with 16GB VRAM), great display, great battery life, portable (compared to other heavier desktop replacements), are some of its pros.

Another great choice: https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-ZBook-Fury-16-G10-mobile-workstation-review-100-W-Nvidia-RTX-5000-Ada.751426.0.html
Offers RJ45 support as well and more SSD slots.

Expen$ive!! The 2nd one is $5300. I don't know how rich you are nor is it any of my business. Let me ask: even if you were richer than Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos combined, don't you believe these laptops are overkill? Do you really need all those features?

Don't get me wrong. I am also one of those people who buy things with far higher specs than what I really need. Why? I don't know. I'm just wired that way. So I ask: are you like me in that regard? In my case this "logic" applies only to technology. Other stuff doesn't really matter.
